ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted bail to a woman accused of allegedly torturing her husband and two minor daughters, directing her release against a surety bond of Rs200,000.
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro announced the reserved verdict on the bail application filed by the accused after hearing arguments from both sides.
Advocate Imran Feroz Malik represented the petitioner.
The court had reserved the verdict after the defence sought bail for the accused, who was booked by the Women Police Station in connection with allegations of physically assaulting her husband and daughters.
During the earlier hearing, the defence counsel argued that the accused, who holds a PhD in philosophy, was facing complex family issues and that the alleged incidents stemmed from domestic disputes.
The counsel also contended that Section 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code had been wrongly invoked, arguing that the matter involved a domestic dispute and could fall within the ambit of domestic violence.
The hearing had also drawn attention after the defence counsel acknowledged that she had beaten her husband on three occasions. An argument that she was the “mistress of the house” when angry prompted humorous remarks from Justice Soomro during the proceedings. The court also questioned the investigating officer about the accused’s psychological condition.
The officer told the court that no psychological or mental-health assessment of the accused had been conducted. The prosecution case, however, included a medico-legal report concerning the accused’s 14-year-old daughter.
According to the Pims report, the girl was brought to the hospital on July 6 with an alleged history of physical assault involving PVC pipes and metallic rods. She had earlier been admitted to CMH and was referred to Pims after developing acute kidney injury due to rhabdomyolysis.
The medico-legal certificate recorded multiple injuries, including a lacerated wound on the forehead, bruising on the scalp and extensive bruises on the neck and shoulders. The report stated that the girl underwent a CT scan and X-rays and remained in the intensive care unit at PIMS.
Police documents showed that preliminary proceedings in the case were initiated by ASI Farzana Begum, with official filings dated June 4 and July 6, 2026.
