KARACHI: Pakistan Rangers, Sindh and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have arrested a suspected terrorist belonging to the Fitna al-Khawarij and recovered arms and explosives on Sunday.
Officials said that the Rangers and CTD conducted a joint raid in Jacob Lines and arrested Shahzad alias Dangar.
A Rangers spokesperson said that the held suspect was affiliated with the Mansoor group of Fitna al-Khawarij, a term used by the government to describe the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
He said that Mansoor was a resident of Kunwari Colony in Manghopir and he fled to Waziristan after a Rangers-led operation was launched in Karachi in 2013.
The held suspect joined the banned TTP in 2025 and was assigned the task of collecting funds for the terrorist group in Karachi. He sent the funds on a monthly basis to Waziristan.
Youth shot dead
A young man was shot dead allegedly by his friend over a monetary dispute in Gulshan-i-Maymar on Sunday, according to police.
Area SHO Mohammed Ali Niazi said that Muhammad Daniyal, 30,was sitting at his shop,
along with his father Idrees, when his friend, Nafees, arrived there in a car.
He said that Nafees started indiscriminate firing and fled. Daniyal sustained critical bullet wounds and was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
