LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Azad Jammu and Kashmir president and former prime minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi has condemned the illegal arrest and detention of former MLA Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan’s arrest.

Dewan was taken into custody by the Punjab Police some two months before the AJK election from his Lahore residence and eventually his wife, Saba Dewan, had contested the election in the AJK and lost to a PML-N candidate.

PTI AJK president Niazi visited Dewan’s Lahore residence on Sunday and met his wife, Saba, and children. He paid tribute to him for “bravely resisting oppression and brutality,” and strongly condemned his arrest.

Former minister/MLA Sialkot Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Yasir Ghafoor Gujjar, Mirza Sadiq Jaral, Chaudhry Nadeem Nisar, Haji Ijaz Dewan, Saqib Saleem Butt, Zaka Dewan, Ishtiaq Malik and other party leaders were also present.
