CHITRAL: Muhammad Khalid, a Grade-18 police officer from Chitral, has been nominated for the prestigious Tamgha-i-Shujaat award by the president of Pakistan on the occasion of Independence Day for his exceptional bravery in an intelligence-based operation in Hangu on July 19, 2025, when he was posted as district police officer there.
Presently posted as assistant inspector general (logistics) in Central Police Office Peshawar, he is the second officer from Chitral to receive this gallantry award.
Muhammad Khalid had sustained injuries in a bomb blast and underwent surgery in a hospital in Kohat after which he was shifted to a hospital in Peshawar where he recovered in three months.
Meanwhile, the fifth season of the Chitral Football League (CFL), a major and spectacular national-level sports event held in Chitral, will kick off on August 29 at the Col Murad Stadium in Drosh, featuring prominent football teams from across the country in action.
According to a statement issued by the league administration, the Chitral Football League is being organised by the Ideal Football Club Drosh in collaboration with the Chitral Scouts.
It also has the support of the district administration of Lower Chitral, the district Sports Office, the Chitral police and the District Football Association.
The administration stated that the country’s best and most renowned football teams were participating in the Chitral Football League this year.
Those include defending champions KRL, Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Gujranwala Wapda and the NLI Regiment alongside the Wapda Hydro Housing Society Kohat team.
