GUJRAT: An alleged drug dealer was killed by the ‘firing of his own accomplices’ during an encounter with the Wazirabad Police on Wednesday.
A Gujranwala Police spokesperson said that a man was shot dead by the firing of his own accomplices during an encounter in the Wazirabad Saddar Police precincts.
He said the deceased man was later identified as Usman Ali, who was wanted in a number of drug cases and other heinous crimes in the region. He claimed that his accomplices fled the scene, whereas the dead body was shifted to the DHQ Hospital for autopsy.
Police have registered a case against the unidentified accomplices of the deceased and started investigation.
Meanwhile, the Gujrat Police claimed to have arrested an outlaw in injured condition at Gujjar Chowk in the Jalalpur Jattan Saddar Police precincts.
A Gujrat Police spokesperson said that a police team was taking a suspect, Khalil, for recovery when four people riding two motorbikes intercepted the police party. He claimed the motorcyclists opened fire and freed the suspect from police custody.
He further claimed when the police chased the fleeing suspects, Khalil was found in injured condition and his accomplices had fled. The arrested suspect was shifted to the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital.
