LAHORE: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday directed immigration authorities at Allama Iqbal International Airport here to keep all counters open to expedite the clearance of passengers with complete travel documents.
The direction was given by the minister as he paid a surprise visit to the Allama Iqbal International Airport and reviewed the immigration process for passengers.
During the visit, Mr Naqvi inspected immigration counters and inquired from staff about the procedure. He also spoke to passengers about the time taken for immigration clearance.
Passengers told the minister that immigration was completed within 30 minutes, seeking improvement in arrangements.
Taking immediate action, the minister assured passengers that the immigration process would be expedited. He directed airport authorities to keep all counters open to speed up immigration.
“With all counters open, there will be no delay in immigration and passengers will be facilitated,” Mr Naqvi said.
The minister also took notice of a passenger’s complaint regarding an agent demanding money. He handed over the case to the FIA director and ordered the immediate arrest of the suspect.
He directed FIA officials that no one should be allowed to travel on incomplete travel documents.
“Immigration has been made easier with modern technology and the crackdown against those travelling on fake documents has been intensified,” he said.
