LAHORE: MCB Bank Ltd on Thursday reported a profit before tax (PBT) of Rs55.1 billion and a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs26.5bn, translating into earnings per share (EPS) of Rs22.34 for the half year ended on June 30.

On a consolidated basis, PBT and PAT stood at Rs58.8bn and Rs28.1bn, respectively.

The bank’s board of directors, in its meeting chaired by Mian Mohammad Mansha, reviewed and approved financial statements for the half year, reflecting resilient performance supported by strong fundamentals, disciplined execution, and balance sheet strength amid a challenging macroeconomic environment.

The board declared a second interim cash dividend of Rs9 per share (90 per cent), taking the cumulative cash dividend for 2026 to Rs18.00 per share (180pc).

Total income for the half year stood at Rs93.9bn, reflecting a 6pc year-on-year increase. The improvement was primarily driven by net markup income, which rose to Rs75.3bn (1H2025: Rs71.3bn), supported by a higher low-cost deposit base and effective yield optimisation despite the relatively lower average policy rate compared to last year.

Non-markup income rose to Rs18.7bn (1H2025: Rs17.5bn), representing a 7pc year-on-year increase. Fee and commission income increased by 21pc year-on-year to Rs11.9bn, supported by sustained momentum in the bank’s digital banking franchise and higher transaction volumes.

Within this segment, card-related income increased by 13pc, branch banking fee income rose by 5pc on the back of improved customer engagement and cross-selling initiatives, while consumer banking fee income recorded a robust 27pc increase, reflecting higher customer activity and greater uptake of consumer financing products.

Foreign exchange income and dividend income further contributed Rs4.1bn and Rs2.1bn, respectively, to the non-markup income base.
