ISLAMABAD: The sons of former prime minister Imran Khan, Kasim and Sulaiman, have reiterated concerns about their incarcerated father’s health in a fresh interview with CNN, published on Thursday.
The interview came a day after the PTI marked three years since Mr Khan was imprisoned on Aug 5, 2023, for concealing details of Toshakhana gifts.
In the CNN interview, Kasim and Sulaiman said they had “no updates because his [Imran’s] family, doctors [and] lawyers haven’t been allowed to see him for seven months”.
“We’ve been more in the dark than we’ve ever been throughout his incarceration,” Kasim said, while referring to the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) order allowing them to speak to their father by phone every two weeks.
The brothers claimed that each time they spoke to the media about their father, the Pakistani authorities made it harder for them to see him by allegedly delaying their visas or bogging them down with other administrative issues.
“We’re trying, we’d like to go, but nothing’s coming through,” Kasim said. “There’s no reason we shouldn’t be granted a visa.”
Asked whether there was a possibility of their father reaching a “deal with the government”, the brothers said they thought it was unlikely.
CNN also quoted the information ministry as saying that both had Nicop cards, meaning they did not require visas to enter Pakistan.
