New train

LAHORE, July 18: The Pakistan Railways has decided to run a new fast train between Lahore and Karachi from July 24. The train 5Up/6-Down will be called `Sindh Express’.

Enroute, the train will stop at only four stations — Khanewal, Rahim Yar Khan, Rohri and Hayderabad.

According to a news release issued here on Tuesday, the train having Chinese boggies will initially be run on alternate days. According to the schedule, the train will depart from Lahore railway station at 8pm and reach Karachi at 11:30am. Similarly, it will leave Karachi railway station at 8pm and reach Lahore at 11:30am.

The train will have six economy class, four lower AC class and one AC sleeper boggies. It will also have a dinning car, power plant and a brake van.

The PR spokesman stated that the advance booking for the train had been started. —Staff Reporter
