BAHAWALPUR, July 18: District and Sessions judge Syed Ijaz Hussain Shah on Tuesday began the hearing of a case involving `fraudulent’ removal of a man’s kidney

The apex court had remanded the case to the district and sessions judge to speed up the trial last month. The next date of hearing was fixed for july 20.

According to prosecution, one Muhammed Amjad of Chak 47/DB of Yazman lodged an FIR (383/05) with the area police on August 10, 2005, that the accused, Shehzad, Ishaq and Boota. took him to Rawalpindi, and handed him over to a doctor. The doctor, according to Amjad, administered some injection to him which made him unconscious.

Amjad claimed that while he was unconscious, his kidney was removed. On regaining consciousness, Amjad was told by the doctor that Rs75,000 had been paid for his kidney to Boota, who did not pay the amount to the complainant. The complainant said later the accused brought him to Chak no.80/DB.

The case was registered after two weeks of the removal of Amjad’s kidney.

Yazman police produced the three accused in the court, while their fourth accomplice Nawaz alias Nikka was absconding.

The court asked Bahawalpur district officer (revenue) to furnish by july 20 the detail of the property owned by Nawaz to undertake the process of attachment in case he failed to appear in the court. — Correspondent
