Body of minor swept away in nullah recovered

RAWALPINDI: The body of a six-year-old boy, who drowned in a nullah in Westridge during Monday’s rain, was found about 12 kilometres away from the drowning spot on Tuesday.

A spokesman for Rescue 1122 said that the search operation for the missing boy was started early Tuesday morning by rescue workers. During the search, the boy’s body was recovered about 12 kilometers away from the drowning spot.

Hussain Ahsan, a six-year-old boy, drowned in a nullah near Girja Road, Malik Colony on Monday.

Shortly after the incident was reported, the water rescue team, four ambulances, and a motorbike rescue service with 10 crew reached the spot and launched a search and rescue operation in the drain.

A spokesman for Rescue 1122 said that the search continued in the Dhamial Camp area for a child who drowned in the Rawalpindi Church Road drain. However, the search operation was suspended due to darkness on Monday night.

The search operation was initiated early Tuesday morning during which the drowning boy’s body was recovered near Adiala Road.

Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man was killed in a road traffic accident in the Westridge police area on Tuesday, police said. The body of the victim was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem.
