MANSEHRA, Oct 17: The Jamaat-i-Islami’s women wing brought out a rally here on Wednesday to protest against the killings of civilians in the US-led attacks on Afghanistan.

Led by the deputy general-secretary of the women wing, Dr Ferdose Kossar, the rally started from Dub No-1 and ended at Pukhawal Chock, where the protesters blocked the Karakoram Highway for some time.

About 500 women activists of religious and political parties took part in the rally and carried placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the US and its allies.

The rally turned into a public meeting on the highway, where speakers, including Dr Ferdose Kossar, lamented the US attacks on Afghanistan and demanded immediate withdrawal of the support the Pakistan government had extended to the US.

They called upon the US to address the problems that they said the country had created itself before starting a war on terrorism.
