RAWALPINDI: Police have been directed to further tighten security for Chinese citizens, CPEC projects and other installations besides conducting daily security checks.

The directive was issued by Regional Police Officer Babar Sarfraz Alpa while chairing a monthly meeting of the Regional Police Coordination Committee. The meeting also reviewed law and order and crime prevention.

City Police Officer Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera, the SP Safe City Authority, Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam, SP Security Saleem Khattak, the SP Investigation and other officers attended the meeting.

“Policing should be upgraded according to modern requirements through effective communication with all districts and units,” the RPO said.

The RPO also issued instructions to ensure foolproof security arrangements for Chehlum processions and majalis as well as Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections to be held on August 2. Supervisory officers should monitor cases related to women and children, and cases under investigation should be resolved quickly, the RPO said.

The police were also directed to arrest criminals, trace un-arrested suspects in cases with incomplete challans and ensure conviction through effective investigation.

He emphasised on effective crackdown on illegal residents, violators of Tenancy Act, and effective use of Hotel Eye and Travel Eye software. Instructions were also issued to further intensify security, search, combing, intelligence-based operations and snap checking at inter-provincial and riverine checkposts.

He said the establishment of the Regional Police Coordination Committee had significantly improved coordination between institutions and effective policing will be further strengthened.
