RAWALPINDI: Six prisoners were released from Adiala jail due to the efforts of jail authorities and assistance from a philanthropist.
The release of the six prisoners – one of them had served his five year sentence in a murder attempt case while others completed their life imprisonment in murder cases – were released after the court mandated fine was paid by a philanthropist. Due to unpaid fines the six prisoners who had completed their terms could not be released earlier.
According to a press release issued by the jail superintendent, through the special efforts of the Central Jail Rawalpindi administration, with the cooperation of philanthropist Mian Muhammad Hanif, an amount of Rs1.875 million was received in the form of compensation and fine.
After the court mandated fines were deposited, six prisoners were released.
