PESHAWAR, July 17: A US delegation, led by Daniel Sullivan, Assistant Secretary for Economic Affairs, held a meeting with NWFP Chief Secretary Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi here on Monday and discussed with him matters relating to economic development of Fata and establishment of “reconstruction opportunities zones (ROZs)” in the region.

Mr Qureshi informed the US officials about Fata plans and the special zones to make use of local resources for sustainable development of the area.

He said the government was committed to bring Fata at par with other parts of the country in terms of development, adding that allocations for the region had been increased by 600 per cent in recent years.

He hoped that the US support and cooperation in economic uplift and establishing the zones would bring development in the tribal areas.—PPI
