LAKKI MARWAT: The district steering committee on health has taken serious notice of the absence of doctors and paramedics from official duty and directed the health authorities to initiate disciplinary action against them.
The committee met in Karak city on Friday with Deputy Commissioner Asad Sarwar in the chair. The district health officer, the medical superintendent of District Headquarters Hospital and other officials were in attendance.
The district monitoring officer of the Independent Monitoring Unit (IMU) informed the meeting that IMU monitors found several health staffers, including doctors, missing from duty, badly impacting healthcare delivery.
The deputy commissioner directed the district health authorities to take disciplinary action against the truant officials.
“The district administration will not compromise on improved hygiene conditions, availability of medicines and attendance of doctors and paramedics in hospitals,” he said.
