Brent oil nears $100 after surging 5 per cent on Middle East attacks

Published Updated

The price of the main international oil contract, Brent North Sea, has soared five per cent after Houthi rebels claimed to have struck two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea, AFP reports.

Brent has reached $98.80 a barrel while the main US contract, West Texas Intermediate, rallies 3.8pc to $90.11 a barrel, as the attacks potentially open a new front in the Middle East war.
