ISLAMABAD, July 16: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Northern Areas vice-president Haji Ghandal Shah has condemned a ban on construction in Diamer district and demanded its lifting immediately.

The local administration has imposed a ban on new constructions for the next 10 years till the construction of the proposed Diamer-Bhasha dam.

Mr Shah, who is also head of the Diamer-Bhasha Dam Namanzoor Committee, told Dawn here on Sunday that construction of the dam would take at least ten years and for such a long period ban on constructions in Chilas is not justifiable and people would suffer due to this decision.

He said before imposing section-144 the administration should provide alternative place for the affected people, so that they could start a new life.
