GILGIT: Two tourists were killed and 12 others, including a British national, were injured in three separate road accidents in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) on Tuesday.
According to a statement issued by the GB police, a tourist high-roof vehicle travelling from the Khunjerab Pass towards Chilas and carrying tourists from Lahore overturned while descending from Babusar Top after its brakes reportedly failed.
Police said Mehran and Muhammad Ali, both residents of Lahore, died on the spot, while six others, including women, sustained injuries.
In another incident, five tourists, including a woman, were injured on Naltar Road after their vehicle was hit by landslide debris before plunging off the road. All five occupants, who are residents of Karachi, sustained injuries in the accident.
Meanwhile, police said British biker Pearson Stuart was injured after falling off his motorcycle while travelling from Skardu to Astore on Tuesday. He suffered injuries to his knee and foot.
