VEHARI, July 14: Eight people sustained injuries and about 20 mud houses collapsed in the city and its adjoining areas in rain and windstorm on Thursday night. The windstorm uprooted electricity poles, which resulted in disruption of power, supply to most parts of the city. The electricity supply could not be restored the whole night.

Heavy rain inundated low-lying areas of the College Town, Muslim Town, Danywal, Chak 9-11/wb, Chak 24/wb, Peoples Colony and other areas.

The injured people have been identified as Rafiq, Ishtiaq, Maqbool, Din Mohammad, of Thingi area, Shafiq, Shah Mohammad, Zainab Bibi and Allah Ditta of Muslim Town area.

This was the first heavy monsoon rain in the district.
