Lloyd to join WICB

ST JOHN’S, July 13: West Indies cricket legend Clive Lloyd is expected to be appointed as non-member director of West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) when the board meets on Friday.

The 61-year-old Guyanese, who led West Indies for over a decade and won World Cup in 1975 and 1979, is a highly respected International Cricket Council match referee and is also head of WICB's cricket committee.

Lloyd's appointment will be an unprecedented move, as WICB will also seek to appoint at least two other non-members.

Sir Alistair McIntyre, former Chancellor University of West Indies, and Grenville Phillips, a chartered accountant, are in contention. WICB will also look at a new Code of Conduct for directors, 2007 ICC World Cup and Super Series against India to be played in Canada in September.—Agencies
