ISLAMABAD, July 13: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has issued instructions for the implementation of the general sale tax (GST) on the 15 per cent value addition of pesticide ingredients at import stage.

The CBR issued a sales tax circular No. 4 here on Thursday, which said the registered persons dealing in pesticides shall be required to pay sales tax on fixed value addition of 15 per cent in the sales tax return for the tax-period of June, 2006 to be filed by July 15, 2006, on the stocks of finished pesticides held on June 5, 2006, and the stocks of active ingredients listed in SRO 645 of 2006, held on June 21, 2006.

For this purpose, stock declarations of finished pesticides and active ingredients shall be made by the registered persons to the concerned Collectorate of Sales Tax and Federal Excise along with the return for June, 2006; and the manner of calculation of due tax on fixed value addition of 15 per cent shall be--Customs duty paid value of imported pesticide/ active ingredients along with value addition for the sales tax purpose. The sales tax will be levied following payment of Customs duty and value addition.
