BAHAWALNAGAR: Two brothers and their cousin died after inhaling toxic gas when they went into a deep well to rescue a goat in Chishtian.

According to locals and Rescue 1122 officials, a goat belonging to a farming family living at Chak 28 Gajiani, a suburb of Chishtian, fell into an abandoned 30-foot deep well while grazing in the fields.

Ali Raza (18) was the first to enter the well to save it, but he lost consciousness due to suffocation caused by poisonous fumes in the well. Due to the delay in Ali’s return, his elder brother Ali Akbar (22) went down the well and he too fell victim to the poisonous gases. Meanwhile, their cousin Zain (24) climbed down the well to rescue the duo, but he too could not get out of the well due to suffocation.

A Rescue 1122 team arrived at the location and pulled the trio and the animal out of the well. However, by then they all had died.
