LAKKI MARWAT: Scores of suspects were arrested during search and strike operations in Lakki Marwat and Karak districts, police said on Sunday.
In Lakki Marwat, the police conducted operation in the rural areas located within the limits of Tajori police station and bordering Bittani subdivision following credible information about the presence of terrorists.
DPO Nazir Khan said that the operation was meant to cleanse the region of anti-state elements and destroy the hideouts of anti-state elements in the remote rural localities of the district.
The law enforcers backed by armored personnel carriers (APCs) raided various places in the Bakhmal Ahmadzai, Tarikhel, Behramkhel and Sulemankhel areas and arrested several suspects”, he claimed.
Police vow to eliminate all terrorists
He said that the police also seized arms and ammunition from arrested persons during the operation.
The DPO said that the police authorities also met with local elders to seek their cooperation in making the actions against terrorists and criminals a success.
He said that the search and strike operations would continue till the elimination of last terrorist and the establishment of peace in the region.
In Karak, district police officer Imran Khan led the operation in the border mountainous areas with Mianwali district of Punjab to strengthen inter-border security as part of inter-border security measures.
A large contingent of police assisted by Elite Force commandos took part in the offensive to flush out terrorists and clear the border area.
During the operation police held scores of suspects and shifted them to the police station where cases were registered against them under relevant sections of law. The law enforcement personnel also destroyed the safe havens the terrorists had established in the mountainous terrain to execute their nefarious plans.
Mr Imran said that police would use all available resources to establish writ of the state and purge the region of enemies of peace.
FUNDS ALLOCATION: Residents of Serai Naurang have asked the provincial government to allocate funds for installation of streetlights along the Hospital Road in the town.
Talking to journalists on Sunday, they said that installation of streetlights in the maiden of the Bannu-DI Khan Road passing through Naurang had added to the beautification of the urban area.
“The scheme is going on as more streetlights are being installed at the Gandi Chowk on the busy Peshawar-Karachi Highway,” they claimed.
They thanked the special assistant to the chief minister for home and tribal affairs, Tariq Saeed Khan, for paying special heed to the beautification and uplifting of the town, asking the lawmaker to focus on installation of more streetlights in the surrounding areas of Naurang city.
“The Hospital Road is used by both urban and rural population as it links several villages and hamlets with the urban locality,” a resident maintained, adding, the road was of vital importance as people use it to take their patients to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
