KARACHI: All ninth Muharram processions held to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Husain and his companions across Sindh concluded peacefully on Thursday amid tight security, officials said.
They added that in Karachi, the main procession started from Nishtar Park and culminated at the Hussainian Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar in the evening after passing through its traditional route.
Mourners, mostly relatives of missing Shia persons, staged a sit-in for a while on M.A. Jinnah Road near Numaish to protest against alleged enforced disappearances, according to a spokesperson for Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen.
On the occasion, members of the Imamia Students Organisation chanted slogans against the United States and Israel and burnt flags.
