KARACHI: A 52-year-old man was gunned down in Ibrahim Hyderi on Tuesday morning, police said.

Area SHO Arshad Awan said that Mohammed Iqbal was shot dead inside his house near Moscow Company. The victim’s wife claimed to have seen a man fleeing the home around the same time, the officer added.

The deceased worked in the fisheries. He originally hailed from Chaman, where his coffin was taken for burial. The police ruled out the possibility of a robbery.

Tortured body found

The tortured body of a man was recovered from a house in Nazimabad, Block-5-C, on Tuesday afternoon.

Paposh Nagar SHO Shaukat Awan said the deceased was identified as 65-year-old Syed Aftab Hasan. The body bore torture marks caused by hard and blunt instruments, he added.

He said the victim was a retired technician of the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH). He was living with his second wife while his first wife and children lived in North Karachi.

The officer said the police rushed to the spot after receiving information from his second wife. Initially, she informed the police that her husband had fallen inside the house and died. He said the wife was frequently changing statement and the police had detained her for interrogation.
