TOBA TEK SINGH, July 11: Strike of powerloom workers entered fifth day on Tuesday to press the owners for a raise in wages and decrease in working hours. Addressing a press conference here, powerloom owners association president Noor Ansari and other office-bearers condemned the strike and termed it as blackmailing by some political leaders of Gojra. They said they would never hold talks with the so-called leaders of workers and claimed that powerloomers had already raised the wages.

DBA: The district bar association members did not appear in courts on Tuesday due to death of two LHC judges and 43 other people in Multan plane crash on Monday.

A bar spokesman said strike would also be observed on Wednesday (today).

AXED TO DEATH: A girl was killed over a marriage issue at Mauza Dargahipur in Arrouti area near Pirmahal on Tuesday.

Reports said Yasmeen was at her house when her relatives Tahir Nawaz and Siddique came and allegedly axed her to death. They were angry over her engagement against their will. — Correspondent
