NURSING STUDENTS

NURSING STUDENTS: Nursing students spend long hours in the wards often without proper breaks or rest. They are expected to manage patients, complete assigned tasks, and follow strict instructions under stressful conditions. In many wards, there are no designated areas for students to sit, and they are required to stand for long hours at work, which becomes extremely exhausting. Despite this, their efforts are often overlooked. This continuous pressure not only affects their health, but also impacts their learning and confidence. There is a need for better support for nursing students. Proper break times, respectful behaviour from staff, and a more understanding environment can make a big difference.

WORRIED GRADUATES: Students and professionals associated with the fields of microbiology, biochemistry and bio-technology across Pakistan are facing a serious issue. Recent regulatory develop-ments related to the Allied Health system have created uncertainty about the future of these graduates in clinical laboratories and healthcare settings. This situation is impacting a very large community nation-wide, and many students and professionals are looking for some guidance. These developments directly affect careers and livelihoods of talented individuals. This issue must be highlighted so that the voices of those affected can be heard.

STRAY THREAT: Dog-bite cases are increasing in Karachi, but effective preventive measures have yet to be taken by the authorities concerned. A few days ago, I felt very humiliated when I was told that our night security guard had been bitten by a dog, and that a neighbour had to take him to a private hospital. It reminded me how such incidents place an additional financial burden on already vulnerable individuals and families. The relevant departments must address this concern through practical implementation and effective measures to control stray dogs, ensuring due public safety.
