GWADAR: An Afghan national was killed and three others injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a vehicle in the forested region of Hoteabad in Kech district on Saturday, police reported.

The victims were travelling in a Zamyad truck on infrequently used routes toward the Kuntani area of Gwadar when they were ambushed.

The vehicle was reportedly carrying about 20 passengers at the time of the shooting.

The victims were Afghan nationals who had entered Pakistan illegally, sources said. They were reportedly travelling toward the Iranian border, attempting to use unofficial crossing points to enter Iran as part of a broader migration route to Europe.
