TOBA TEK SINGH: A woman, who allegedly jumped into the River Jhelum with her three young daughters in an apparent attempt to end her life, was arrested by Qadirpur Police in Jhang on Sunday.
According to an FIR registered on the complaint of Ameer Khan, a resident of Mouza Chandia Nashaib, his wife Tahira Yasmin became upset over a domestic dispute and forcibly took their three minor daughters Sanam (10), Sadaf (7), and Maryam (3) from home when he was absent.
The complainant stated that she took the children towards Chattanear Mari Wala Pattan. When local residents asked where she was taking them, she allegedly replied that her husband did not provide household expenses and that she intended to throw the children into the river. According to the FIR, she subsequently threw the girls into the river, where they drowned.
Meanwhile, a Rescue 1122 spokesperson said search operations continued for a second consecutive day on Sunday to recover the bodies of the three sisters. However, until the filing of this report, the bodies had not been recovered.
Three minor daughters drown in canal
ACCIDENT: A car overturned on Motorway M-3 near the Pirmahal Rest Area early Sunday morning, leaving one person dead and five others from the same family critically injured.
According to Rescue 1122 and Motorway Police officials, the accident occurred after a tyre of the vehicle burst. All six family members, residents of Lahore, were returning after visiting the shrine of Hazrat Sultan Bahoo in Jhang.
The deceased was identified as Haji Gulzar Ahmad (60). The injured were identified as Faraz Abid (14), Hamza Umar (24), Bilal Ali (24), Abu Zar Ali (16), and Abid Ali (45). They were shifted to the Pirmahal THQ Hospital, where doctors referred them to the DHQ Hospital, Toba Tek Singh.
Meanwhile, near Haveli Koranga Police Station in Kabirwala tehsil of Khanewal district, a speeding tractor-trolley hit a motorcycle, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to two others.
The deceased was identified as Malika (32) who succumbed to severe injuries. Her daughter Mubashira (5) and brother Jamal (25) were critically injured. The victims were travelling from Abdul Hakim to Shorkot when the accident occurred. The injured were shifted to Kabirwala THQ Hospital.
MURDER: A man allegedly shot at and killed his wife in Chak 14, Kabirwala tehsil, Khanewal district, on Sunday.
Police said Rab Nawaz opened fire on his wife, Kausar Bibi (60) following a dispute over money. She sustained serious injuries and was being shifted to Kabirwala THQ Hospital when she succumbed to her wounds on the way.
The accused fled the scene after the shooting. Police said raids were underway to arrest him.
