ISLAMABAD, July 11: Pakistan wants to benefit from the experiences of Argentina and Brazil in the field of livestock and sugarcane production, said Minister for Food, Agriculture and Livestock (Minfal), Sikandar Hayat Bosan.

He stated this during meetings with ambassadors of Argentina and Brazil here, in which matters relating to sunflower seed production and soybean also came under discussion, according to a press release issued here on Tuesday.

Pakistan expects to sign a number of MoUs with Argentina and Brazil, especially in the fields of livestock development, sugarcane processing, particularly ethanol production, cooperative development for small farmers and soybean production, during the forthcoming visit of Mr Bosan to these countries scheduled for the last week of July.

A delegation of industrialists and farmers is also expected to accompany the minister during the visit.

The visit will open up new channels of communications between the government and the private sector for better interaction and cooperation for future investment and technical exchanges.

The visit is being organised on the request of the private sector, especially people belonging to the sugar industry.

It may be mentioned that Argentina and Brazil have developed high skills in livestock and sugarcane production and Pakistan could benefit from their experience in these fields. —APP
