Khamenei’s last rites to begin on July 4

TEHRAN: The funeral and burial services for former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will take place across multiple cities from July 4 to 9, according to the official itinerary.

The multi-day public procession will begin in Tehran and conclude with his interment in his hometown, Mashhad. From July 4 to 5, the body will lie in state for viewing at the Tehran Mosalla.

A major funeral procession and public ceremony will be held in Tehran on July 6.

Funeral rites are to take place in the holy city of Qom on July 7.

Ayatollah Khamenei will be laid to rest at Mashhad on July 9.
