PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Thursday said the digital policing initiatives had been introduced to improve public access to police services, enhance service delivery and ensure greater convenience for people.

“Our reforms represent an important milestone in bringing police services directly to the people’s doorstep. They will contribute significantly to strengthening public trust, improving police-community relations and promoting transparency across the policing system,” Mr Afridi said after inaugurating the Police Sahulat Markaz Global App, the Kinetic Police Action Dashboard and a suite of digital portals aimed at transforming the delivery of police services through technology-driven solutions.

The initiatives form part of the provincial government’s broader agenda to modernise public service delivery by leveraging digital technologies to improve efficiency, transparency, accountability and accessibility, according to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office.

It added that the newly-launched platforms were designed to bring essential police services closer to citizens and facilitate seamless interaction with law-enforcement agencies.

During the inauguration ceremony at the Central Police Office, the chief minister directed authorities to undertake a comprehensive public awareness campaign to familiarise people with the newly introduced services.

He emphasised the need for effective implementation and continuous monitoring to ensure that the intended benefits reach the public.

Officials, while briefing the chief minister on the initiatives, said that the PSM App would provide access to 24 police services through a single digital platform.

To facilitate overseas Pakistanis and citizens residing outside the province, the PSM Global platform has also been introduced, enabling remote access to a range of police services from anywhere in the world.

In order to strengthen operational oversight and improve field performance, the Kinetic Police Action Dashboard has been launched as a centralised monitoring platform, the statement read adding that dedicated service desks had also been established to cater to the needs of different segments of society.

“The system will enable real-time monitoring, province-wide reporting, data-driven decision-making and rapid response to emerging issues,” it read.

Officials told the chief minister that the KPCOP mobile application had been introduced to enhance field operations, supervision and performance management of police personnel. Also, a digital FIR registration system has been launched, enabling citizens to lodge First Information Reports online and obtain reports without visiting police stations.

The statement added that an online complaints management system had also been established, allowing citizens to register complaints through a toll-free helpline, WhatsApp, Facebook, SMS and other digital channels.

It also revealed the launch of a dedicated missing persons portal “Talash e Gumshuda” to support efforts aimed at locating and recovering missing children.

According to the statement, subjects of gender-based violence will now be able to submit complaints through a dedicated online platform.

“In order to enhance public safety, particularly for women and children, a Pink Button emergency assistance feature had also been launched, enabling rapid access to support services during emergencies. Citizens will additionally be able to obtain Police Character Certificates and Clearance Certificates online,” it read.

The statement said the service incorporated biometric verification and digital payment mechanisms to ensure security, convenience and efficiency.

The process for obtaining and renewing the digital driving licences has likewise been introduced and streamlined, making it more accessible and user-friendly.

A modern verification system had also been introduced for the online verification of driving licences, traffic challans and other official documents. Dedicated complaint portals have further been established for members of the transgender and minority communities to facilitate accessible, inclusive and responsive grievance redress mechanisms.
