ABBOTTABAD: Strong outrage and protests have erupted in Abbottabad following the alleged killing of a young Bykea driver, Osama, while police have registered a murder case against unknown suspects and launched an investigation.
According to the first information report (FIR) registered at the Nawan Shehar police station, the incident was reported on June 16.
The complainant, Muhammad Javed s/o of Muhammad Shafi, stated that the deceased, Osama son of Mir Osama, 28 years, was shot and critically injured by unidentified individuals on the night of June 15. He was later shifted to Ayub Teaching Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The incident reportedly took place near Dhameera Colony, opposite Punjab Hotel, close to the Abbottabad-Mansehra Road.
Meanwhile, a group of bikers staged a protest against the killing. The protesters claimed that Osama was a poor and hardworking biker who left home for work in the morning but was allegedly abducted from Fawara Chowk, Abbottabad, was taken to Kookmund where he was killed and his body dumped.
The protesters demanded the immediate arrest of the killers and called on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to ensure strict punishment.
Police officials said a case has been registered against unknown suspects and investigations are ongoing. They added that the motive behind the incident would be determined once the inquiry was completed.
