ISLAMABAD: Gunmen shot and injured a man during a robbery attempt in the capital, police said.

The incident took place in the Humak area, and a case has been registered under Section 394 (voluntarily causing hurt while committing robbery) of the Pakistan Penal Code against the robbers.

The incident occurred when two staff members of a filling station were going to a bank to deposit a hefty amount of cash.

Two armed men riding a motorcycle attempted to intercept them when they reached GT Road near a bank.

However, the two filling station employees sped away in their vehicle, which annoyed the robbers. As a result, the pillion rider opened fire on them, injuring one of the employees with a bullet.

The robbers shortly escaped from the spot. Later, the injured man was shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.

In another incident, a gang of culprits looted cash worth more than half a million rupees from a man while posing as law enforcement personnel. One of them was wearing a police uniform.
