Two girls drown in canal

TOBA TEK SINGH: Two minor girls drowned while bathing in a canal near Chanrkot locality on Mananwala Road on Monday.

Rescue 1122 officials said after hectic efforts, rescuers recovered the bodies of Maria Amjad (12) and Merab Samiullah (10) from the canal.

SUICIDE: A 50-year-old man, Jamat Ali, died by suicide by jumping into the River Ravi near Narroki village on Pakka Qila Road. Rescue 1122 divers retrieved his body. The reason behind the suicide could not be ascertained.

ACCIDENT: A man was killed after being hit by a speeding bus near Mohsinwal in Mian Channu tehsil on Monday.

Police identified the deceased as Muhammad Afzal (42), who was crossing the road when the accident occurred.

HOUSE FIRE: A house caught fire due to strong winds at Chak 426-JB on Sunday night, leaving a man seriously injured.

Reports said the blaze erupted at the house of Fazal Hussain and quickly engulfed the entire building, reducing household belongings to ashes. Mahmood Ahmed (50) sustained severe burn injuries while attempting to extinguish the fire and was shifted to the Gojra THQ Hospital.

KIDNAP: A woman and her two young children were allegedly kidnapped from Chak 178-GB Ghoga.

According to a first information report lodged by Samina with Gojra Saddar police, her daughter Aqsa Javed was alone at home with her sons, Muhammad (6) and Asif (3) when Muhammad Hamza and an accomplice allegedly abducted them and fled. Police said raids were underway to recover the abductees.

MEAT SEIZED: A joint team of the Livestock Department and the Punjab Food Authority raided an illegal slaughterhouse at Chak 259-RB and seized around 400 kilograms of unwholesome meat.

The meat was destroyed on the spot, while a dead buffalo was also recovered during the operation. Dijkot police registered a case against Abbas Masih, Adnan Masih and other suspects.

RAPE: A minor girl was allegedly raped by her relative in Hameedabad locality of Mamukanjan in Faisalabad on Monday.

Police said seven-year-old ‘F’ went to play with children in the house of her relative ‘U’ where he was alone. He overpowered the girl and allegedly raped her. She was shifted to Mamukanjan rural health centre while police arrested the suspect.
