Student found dead in Islamia College Peshawar hostel

PESHAWAR: A suspected suicide case involving a student in Tribal Hostel of Islamia College Peshawar has caused concern among students and academia.

Police said here on Sunday that the incident occurred in Room No.29 of Tribal Hostel, where a second-year student, Zahid Afridi, was found dead.

His body was shifted to a hospital for a postmortem examination, while police launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Initial reports suggest that the student may have taken his own life; however, the exact cause of death has not yet been determined.

Police said that Zahid Afridi belonged to Darra Adamkhel. He was studying at Islamia College Peshawar.

Sources described him as an active athlete, who was well-known in sports activities.

Following the report of the incident, police and relevant authorities reached the scene, collected evidence and transferred the body for legal formalities to hospital.

Investigators are examining all aspects of the case and are gathering information from fellow students and other relevant individuals to determine the actual circumstances behind the student’s death.

News of the student’s sudden death spread quickly across the hostel and college, creating an atmosphere of grief. Students expressed sorrow over the incident and called for a thorough and transparent investigation.
