SUKKUR: A young bride was shot dead on the eve of her wedding in Ghanwar Khan Banglani village within Thull taluka of Jacobabad district, officials at the C-Section police station said on Friday.

They said that an armed man entered the room of the bride, Jannat Khatoon, shot her dead and fled the village, leaving all her family members, relatives and other guests in a state of shock and mourning.

Her brother, Nazar Mohammad Banglani, lodged an FIR nominating Zahid Banglani, and his associates, Noor Haq, Mohammad Siddiq, Ali Dost and an unknown person — all belonging to the Banglani community — along with Zafar Banglani (a brother of the bride and the complainant) as suspects.

The complainant alleged that Zahid had first sent his proposal for the marriage which was turned down. In a fit of anger, he resorted to killing her, he added. He also alleged that his brother, Zafar, was involved in the conspiracy to foil the marriage.
