DERA GHAZI KHAN: District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Ata Rabbani sentenced a woman to 16 years jail term in a drug trafficking case and imposed a Rs160,000 fine on her.
The case was registered with the Narcotics Control Cell Police Station in Dera Ghazi Khan.
The convict, Shabnam Bibi, wife of Sher Khan, a resident of the Kot Addu.
As per the case record, a team from the Narcotics Control Cell (NCS) in Dera Ghazi Khan set up a picket at the Tumi Mor on Dera-Quetta road based on a tip-off from an informant.
During the operation, a van was stopped and searched. On suspicion, a lady constable searched Shabnam and recovered a large quantity of ice and hashish tied around her waist. The NCS officials arrested her, registered a case.
During the trial, the prosecution proved the charges against the accused. The judge convicted her, sent her to jail and imposed a fine on her. Failure to pay the fine would result in an additional six-month jail term.
