Anniversary of Pakistan-China ties celebrated

LAHORE: The 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China was commemorated at private university here on Friday to highlight the historic friendship, cultural harmony and educational cooperation between the two countries.

The chief guest was Chinese Consul General in Lahore Sun Yan who visited the university’s Chinese Language Centre and interacted with students in the Chinese language.

The main ceremony, held at the institution’s central auditorium, was attended by a large number of teachers, students, and individuals from various walks of life. Participants were shown a documentary, featuring the history of Pakistan-China relations and highlighting the last year’s celebrations of China’s National Day.

During the event, the students sang songs, reflecting both Chinese and Punjabi cultures, earning appreciation and applause from the audience.

Addressing the gathering, Consul General Sun Yan praised the cordial relations between the institution and the Chinese Consulate and commended the students for their talent and impressive cultural performances. He announced that scholarship opportunities for Pakistani students would continue and that efforts would be made to further strengthen educational, research, and cultural cooperation with Chinese universities.At the conclusion of the ceremony, a commemorative shield was presented to the chief guest.

A special cake decorated with the flags of Pakistan and China was also cut to celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations.
