KARACHI: Most parts of the province remained in the grip of intensely hot weather on Thursday with the mercury soaring to 50 degrees Celsius or above in at least six cities, while 12 cities, including Karachi, saw temperatures surging to 40°C or above.
According to the Meteorological department, Shaheed Benazirabad and Dadu were the hottest cities with 51 degrees followed by Mohenjo-Daro with 50.5 degrees, Larkana, Jacobabad and Sakrand 50 degrees, Rohri 48.5, Sukkur, Hyderabad and Padidan 48 degrees, Khairpur 47 degrees Celsius.
Karachi experienced 40 degrees Celsius with 79 per cent and 54 per cent relative humidity in the morning and evening, respectively.
According to Met officials, the high pressure developed over the region would gradually subside and Karachi’s temperature will come down.
Hot and humid weather will persist on Friday in the city with maximum temperature ranging between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius. However, there are chances of dust storm and light rain at isolated places in plain areas of the province from Thursday till June 13.
