LAHORE, July 8: Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) director general Salahuddin on Saturday was briefed on the cold war that exists between the federal and Punjab governments over the stoppage of the construction work on the Boxing Gymnasium in Lahore.

The Punjab government had ordered the PSB to stop the construction work on the project last month while 70 per cent work had been completed.

The PSB had written a letter to the Punjab Sports Department in this connection asking to cooperate with the federal government in completing the project but the construction could not be started.

The PSB also said in the letter it had two more projects in pipeline for the province and a healthy cooperation would help in provision of standard infrastructure in the province.

The PSB had approved the plan of renovating the country's lone velodrome besides building a hostel in Lahore.

Similar gymnasia are being built in three other provinces of the country on the directives of the president of Pakistan General Pervez Musharraf.
