LAHORE: The Punjab Health Department has suspended three female gynaecologists of the Services Hospital for reportedly violating the criteria and standard guidelines defined for performing medico-legal cases (MLCs).
An official said that the doctors had performed an MLC on a teenage girl and prepared a ‘manual report’ instead of a computerised one. The matter was reported in December 2025.
In the meanwhile, he said, the case of the girl was taken up by a double bench of the Lahore High Court. During the hearing on June 4, the official said that the LHC sought a detailed report of the MLC carried out by the Services Hospital.
Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) Principal Prof Zohra Khanum told this reporter that Assistant Professor Dr Ayesha, who had performed the MLC, sent a junior doctor, Women Medical Officer (WMOs) Dr Afra, to the court to submit the manually prepared MLC report.
The principal said that Dr Ayesha didn’t inform the hospital’s management and had embarrassed the institute.
Following the negligence, she said that the Punjab Health Department suspended Dr Ayesha, WMO Dr Afra and head of the relevant department, Dr Mansoora.
