MANSEHRA: Two persons were killed, and another was injured when a tree fell on a vehicle on the Shogran Road during a windstorm in Kaghan Valley on Tuesday.

The vehicle was on its way to Balakot from Shogran when it was struck by the tree, Balakot SP Sabir Khan told reporters.

The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital, Balakot.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Siddique and Mohammad Shafqat. Taib Ali, who sustained serious injuries, was referred to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital in Mansehra, where his condition is stated to be critical.

Mansehra, Torghar, Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan, and Kolai-Palas districts experienced a windstorm in the evening, uprooting trees and blowing away billboards and temporary structures in several areas.

Meanwhile, the police on Tuesday arrested a man suspected of killing a man in the Dara Ghulam Nabi area earlier this week. The police said Ramazan Munir allegedly killed Mohammad Khursheed and managed to flee after the incident.

A police party arrested the suspect during a raid on his hideout near his residence in Dara Ghulam Nabi.

Police have registered an FIR and are investigating the motive behind the murder.
