LAHORE: Federal Ombudsman Naveed Kamran Baloch has called for expanding the scope of informal resolution of disputes (IRD) and added that a dedicated wing has been established to ensure prompt and informal redressal of public complaints.

During a visit to the Ombudsman’s Lahore regional office, Mr Baloch said he would remain committed to enhancing public service delivery through organisational restructuring and the promotion of modern technology.

He directed the officers to actively implement the outreach complaint resolution (OCR) programme by reaching out at the tehsil level to address public grievances effectively.

Regional office’s member incharge Waqas Ali Mahmood briefed the federal ombudsman about the office’s Punjab judiciary section, specifically covering Lahore, Sheikhupura and Kasur. It included cases related to Wapda as well as various federal government ministries.

The briefing focussed on the nature of these cases, including OCR visits, and emphasised measures to ensure that the general public is provided with accessible, efficient and prompt justice.

The federal ombudsman later met Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, who assured full cooperation from the provincial government.
