Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has slammed an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) draft resolution submitted by the US against his country, deeming it a “dangerous attempt to cleanse and whitewash the responsibility of the aggressors and criminals”.

“As recorded in the agency’s documents as well, the Israeli regime’s and America’s attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities halted verification activities and forced Agency inspectors to leave Iran for safety reasons,” he says in a post on X.

Gharibabadi notes that the US “seeks to turn the consequences of its illegal attack” into a case against Iran, adding, “This is a reversal of responsibility: They (the US) target facilities under safeguards, disrupt nuclear safety and verification possibilities, and then use the Board of Governors to pressure Iran.”

He has urged the IAEA’s Board of Governors not to become a “venue for whitewashing” military aggression.
