CHAKWAL: A 14-year-old boy allegedly gunned down his 12-year-old brother, police said on Monday.
District Police Officer (DPO) Kashif Zulfiqar confirmed to Dawn that the boy killed his brother because the parents showed more love and attention towards the latter.
The incident occurred in Chattal on Sunday when the body of Fawad Haider, a student of grade 6, was found at a deserted spot near the village. Initially, police registered a case against unknown assassins on the application of Abid Hussain, father of the deceased. But during the preliminary investigations, it was revealed that Fawad was killed by his elder brother, Arham Abid, a student of 8th grade.
“We inquired about Arham and he told us that he killed his brother because he was more loved by the parents,” a senior official of the Crime Control Department confirmed to Dawn.
According to the police, the father of the boys felt unwell and went to Chakwal city for his treatment while the mother, a domestic worker, was on her work in the village. Both the brothers were alone at home when Arham took the pistol of his father and asked Fawad to go on dove hunting. They went to nearby fields where Arham allegedly shot Fawad in the head, killing him on the spot.
