CHITRAL: Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan Iqbal Hussain Khan has expressed deep admiration for the natural beauty and landscape of Chitral and highlighted its immense tourism and trade potential.

Speaking to trade leaders and media persons at a restaurant here on Monday, the envoy highlighted his plans to share those opportunities to investors and tourists in his country.

He said that a national exhibition showcasing the rich heritage of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa coupled with its unique landscape first inspired him to visit the region, so he went to multiple tourist destinations of the province, including Lower and Upper Chitral.

Mr Khan noted that several local products could successfully attract Bangladeshi investors, while the resumption of direct flights between Karachi and Dhaka proved the growing bond between the two nations.

He said he was fully convinced that Chitral held valuable treasures for trade and tourism and he was committed to launching continuous efforts to explore and fully utilise that potential.

The envoy said connecting the people of both brotherly nations remained a top priority and showcasing Chitral’s unique landscape was a major step forward.

He presented gifts to Chitral Press Club president Zahiruddin and Chitral Chamber of Commerce and Trade secretary general Sultan Baig.

Bangladesh High Commission Counsellor (Press) Tayub Ali and other diplomats were also present on the occasion.

PPP CELEBRATES POLL VICTORY: A special ceremony was held at the Pakistan Peoples Party’s district office here to celebrate the party’s victory in the Gilgit-Baltistan general elections.

During the event, sweets were distributed among party workers, who congratulated one another and expressed joy while former provincial minister and party provincial vice president Saleem Khan was present at the occasion, along with other party leaders including general secretary Qazi Faisal, information secretary Nizar Wali Shah, tehsil president Alamzeb and others.

Speaking on the occasion, Saleem Khan said that whenever transparent elections are held, the PPP achieves success in this manner.

RALLIES BANNED: Deputy Commissioner of Upper Chitral Mohammad Imran Khan has imposed an immediate ban on public gatherings, rallies and the assembly of more than five people in one place under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, citing the “threats to law and order” in the district as the reason.

The ban will remain in place for 15 days, while strict disciplinary action will be taken against violators, according to a notification issued by the DC office.

Residents insist that the move comes due to fears of demonstrations during the Shandur Festival regarding special concessions in electricity bills in Reshun, Upper Chitral and the slow work on the Booni-Buzund Road in Torkhow.
