ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians Secretary General Nayyer Hussain Bukhari on Saturday expressed the hope that the PPP would secure a clean sweep in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections.

Outlining his party position, he said the bond between the people of Gilgit-Baltistan and Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was as strong as the mountains, and that the politically conscious voters will vote for the party. He said PPP ended the feudal system and abolished the FCR in Gilgit-Baltistan. The people are well aware that the PPP granted them the right to governance and ownership, and that having an elected assembly, governor and chief minister from Gilgit-Baltistan is an honor earned through the PPP.

Mr Bukhari said voters will place their trust in the party based on the services and performance of Mr Bhutto, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and President Asif Ali Zardari for Gilgit-Baltistan. During the election campaign, the people demonstrated their full confidence in Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari by attending the historic gatherings of the arrow-bearer candidates in large numbers, he said.

He said the PPP chairman and First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari received a warm and enthusiastic welcome in Gilgit-Baltistan. The next chief minister of the region will be from PPP, he added.
