LAHORE: The chief traffic officer has imposed a ban on the entry of commercial vehicles into the city if they are being operated without a valid driving licence, fitness certificate, or functional front and rear lights.
According to CTO Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi, only those commercial vehicles whose drivers possess valid driving licences will be allowed to enter the city.
He said that strict action would also be taken against loader tractor-trolleys carrying sand, soil, construction material, and other goods without proper tarpaulin covers.
Special checking and general hold-up operations have been launched at all entry and exit points of the city.
The SPs and DSPs concerned will personally supervise the enforcement campaign to ensure effective implementation of the directives.
Announcing a zero-tolerance policy against commercial vehicles operating with high-beam lights, defective or missing rear lights, and without valid fitness certificates, the CTO emphasized that there would be no compromise on the protection of citizens’ lives and property.
He reiterated that no leniency would be shown to those found violating traffic laws and safety regulations.
